Rise and Shine Early Learning Centre Design Concept

Redesign and Retrofit of a 60 place service. Service was existing and acquired by a new Approved Provider. 

Design Concept and Furniture, Fixtures and Resources Specification. 

1. Project Overview

 

Objective

To retrofit the childcare center’s interior by replacing or updating furniture to create a functional, engaging, and child-friendly space that meets modern safety and design standards.

Target Audience: Children aged 0-5, childcare staff, and parents.

Key Deliverables: New furniture, space optimization, functional areas (e.g., play, learning, eating), and compliance with regulations.


The Client was presented with a Furniture and Fixtures Specification table, with links, descriptions and layout descriptions as per the client request and remote location. 

2. Design Overview

 

  • Theme/Style: Retro, playful, and vibrant design that promotes creativity and learning. The furniture should be natural and combined fun, with elements of colour to compliment the existing space.
  • Inspiration: Look to classic, mid-century modern designs mixed with playful, ergonomic shapes. Include natural materials for warmth and sustainability.

3. Functional Requirements

 

  • Child-Safe Design: All furniture must be child-safe with rounded edges, non-toxic finishes, and materials that are easy to clean.
  • Flexibility & Multi-Use: Furniture should be versatile, allowing easy reconfiguration of spaces for different activities (e.g., transforming tables for art, dining, and play).
  • Age-Appropriate Sizing: Furniture must be scaled for different age groups, with comfortable seating and activity spaces for children of varying sizes.
